For most of my life, I’ve been one of those people who flit from interest to interest, never staying in any one place for very long. Although I’ve always attributed that behavior to having been raised in a highly-mobile family of origin and having married a military officer whose career was equally mobile, I’ve more recently come to the realization that this quality is simply a part of my personality. This work embraces this part of my self and celebrates its role in feeding my artistic expression.

This work was pieced from commercial cotton fabrics and cotton fabrics from which the dyes were selectively removed. It was embellished with stamped and stenciled images, improvisational stitching, and a variety of found objects (buttons, jewelry findings, bits of wire, jigsaw puzzle pieces, safety pins, etc.).
