![]() FACE OF THE WATERS/VINE AND BRANCHES
This set of reversible paraments lifts up two themes for the season of Ordinary Time.
Inspired by Genesis 1, “Face of the Waters” (left) forges a connection between God’s creative activity in moving over the face of the waters to form the world and God’s recreative activity in moving through the baptismal waters to re-form humankind for holy purpose. Inspired by John 15, “Vine and Branches” (right) is a reminder of our calling to live as faithful and fruitful branches of Jesus, the Vine. Together, these works illuminate the season as anything-but-ordinary in the lives of the faith community. The motifs on the pieces were appliquéd onto a background of green ultra suede, then embellished with improvisational stitching with cotton, rayon, and metallic threads. |
