The tree was beautiful in its greatness, in the breadth of its branches,
for its roots went down to abundant water.

This design employs the stylized image of a tree to envision the life of God’s people, the Church — the span of its branches imitative of the breadth of God’s own embrace, the subtly nuanced colors of its foliage reflecting both the seasons of nature and the seasons of God’s activity and purpose, its grounding reminiscent of the abundance empowered in us through our baptism into Christ.

This work was pieced and appliquéd using a palette of commercial cotton, linen, silk, and synthetic fabrics.
