![]() SHADRACH, MESHACH, AND ABEDNEGO
(21 inches by 27 inches)
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. This work depicts the story in Daniel 3 about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, whom King Nebuchadnezzar had thrown into a fiery furnace for refusing to renounce their faith in God. It is linked with the words of Isaiah 43. This work was inspired by a friend, whose encounter of challenges in the work place left her feeling like she had been “thrown into the fire.” This work was improvisationally pieced using metallic cotton fabrics. It was embellished with improvisational stitching and embroidery, buttons, and found objects (poker chips). |
