When my spouse began purging his closet of old clothes, I commandeered some of his discarded slacks to use in testing my discharge patterns and techniques. I was so pleased with the results that I used the fabrics to create this work, appropriately titled “Fancy Pants.”

This work was pieced from commercial cotton fabric and recycled cotton twill pants, from which the dye was selectively removed. It was embellished with stamped images and improvisational stitching.

This work was juried into Expressions: The Art Quilt, a traveling exhibit that will be on tour through 2008.
