![]() FACE OF THE WATERS
This design for a set of liturgical textiles forges a connection between the Spirit of God moving over the waters in creating life at the beginning of time and the Spirit of God moving through the waters of baptism in re-creating New Life in each of us for the culmination of time. It is intended to support recovery of the ancient Church's emphasis on Lent as a time of baptism preparation/affirmation.
The pieces in this project (which include stole and chasuble; altar, pulpit, and lectern paraments; and burse and veil) were constructed from cotton/silk fabric, then embellished with sheer silk organza appliqué and improvisational stitching. |
